The Descendants of

Moses Fargo Sr. & His Wife Sarah

Moses Fargo Sr. immigrated in 1668 from Wales to America and settled in the New London, Connecticut, area. He and the next few generations of his descendants lived in Montville (formerly the North Parish of New London) or in nearby Norwich. Among his illustrious descendants is William George Fargo, one of the founders of the firm Wells, Fargo & Company.

This book details the thirteen generations of the family.  In 1907 a book entitled Record of the Fargo Family was published by John J. Giblin for James Francis Fargo. This thirty-one page booklet covered some lines up through generation seven. A little information on the Fargo family can be found in Henry A. Baker’s History of Montville, Connecticut.  None of these earlier works include the females lines. The new genealogy adds these lines and corrects some errors for the found in the cited works. Research is underway to add more information on various female lines.

All of the material from earlier studies on these families is included. Corrections based on new research are made. In addition, the female lines are followed and extensive biographical material is added. Detailed source references are given, often to primary records. Along with the text are a few portraits and numerous photographs of tombstones which are printed in color. There are indexes of people and places. The book is bound in hardcover and is printed on acid-free paper.
