A Genealogy of the
Day Family
Anthony Day was born in Ipswich, England in 1616. His wife, Susannah Ring Mattchett, was also a native of England. This well-known couple immigrated around 1645. They settled in Massachusetts and raised ten children. This genealogy chronicles their descendants through the twelfth generation for some lines. The focus in this study in on the branches that settled in Ohio. The family is linked with the August, Day and Rice families that are studied in other recent books. Previous information on Ohio branch of this family has been available only in the histories of Ashtabula County, Ohio. Corrections to the previously published articles are added. In addition, the female lines are followed and extensive biographical material is added. Detailed source references are given, often to primary records. Along with the text are numerous photographs of tombstones. There are indexes of people and places. The book is bound in soft-cover and is printed on acid-free paper. A future edition of this genealogy will include the branches that remained in the New England states. Research is underway to integrate that information and bring those lines up to the present. |
