The Descendants of
Robert Wiard & His Wife Mary
Robert Wiard was born in England around 1620. He was an early settler in Wethersfield, Connecticut. The descendants remained mainly in Connecticut for several generations and intermarried with many of the well-known founding families of Connecticut. Gradually, descendants ventured westward into New York, Pennsylvania and further west. This genealogy gathers information from the brief Wiard genealogy published in 1912 by Captain George Knapp Collins and William Wolcott Wiard. This new genealogy adds information from a number of the families that intermarried with the Wiard descendants. Some lines are brought down to the ten generation. Research is underway to extend this genealogy forward to the present. All of the material from the early Wiard genealogy on these families is included. Corrections based on new research are made. In addition, the female lines are followed and biographical material is added. Detailed source references are given, to primary records whenever possible. Along with the text are numerous photographs of tombstones. There are indexes of people and places. The book is bound in soft-cover and is printed on acid-free paper.
