The Descendants of
Edmund Dolbeare
Edmund Dolbeare Sr. was born in England and arrived in Boston, Massachusetts, around 1673. He was a pewterer and was relatively wealthy. His son John was extremely successful in Boston. This son purchased 1,000 acres of land in Montville, Connecticut, just north of New London. His son George inherited this land and lived there. Many of the descendants of George remained in this area and there were several intermarriages with the Bradford's who were descendants of William Bradford of the Mayflower. This book contains information that was previously scattered in numerous places. The lines of descent go through the seventh generation and cover many families in the Boston and New London areas. Corrections based on new research are made. In addition, the female lines are followed and extensive biographical material is added. Detailed source references are given, often to primary records. Along with the text are 44 photographs of tombstones which are printed in color. The book is indexed by people and by places. It is bound in soft-cover and is printed on acid-free paper.
