The Rogers Cemetery

of

Montville, New London County, Connecticut

This volume is a record of all of the burials in the Rogers Cemetery in Montville. This small graveyard is located in what is today the town of Montville, Connecticut, along Raymond Hill Road about one half mile east of Montville Center. It was a family cemetery and contains only members of the Rogers family or their spouses. The graveyard is essentially full. The first burial was in 1825 and the last was in 1957

Maps show the location of the cemetery. The main section of the book contains a page for each person known to be interred here. Photographs of each tombstone are included.

The area was originally part of the land laid out for the town of New London, Connecticut. This outlying settlement was then called the North Parish. It was split off from New London and became the town of Montville. The town was further split into societies, which often became villages. There are over fifty cemeteries in the town of Montville. They range in size from two burials to over one thousand. Many are overgrown and long abandoned.

Each person known to be buried here is given a page. On that page his/her name and a color photograph are given. Additional genealogical and biographical information is provided in many cases. In the index women are listed under both their birth surname and married surname.
